Ingredients
1½ pounds fresh tomatillos (husked and halved)
½ cup fresh cilantro leaves
¼ cup chopped white onion
1 jalapeño pepper, diced
1 serrano pepper, diced
Juice of 1 lime
⅛ teaspoon sugar
Salt to taste
Directions
- Preheat the oven broiler and position the rack about 6 inches from the heat source.
- Place the halved tomatillos cut-side down on a baking tray.
- Broil for about 5 minutes until they become soft and slightly charred.
- Transfer the roasted tomatillos into a blender or food processor.
