Ingredients

  • 1 pound flank steak, cut into bite size pieces
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 3 large green onions, sliced diagonally into 1/2 inch pieces
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced fresh ginger root
  • 1/2 cup hoisin sauce

Directions

  • Place the flank steak pieces and cornstarch in a resealable plastic bag and shake well so the beef is evenly coated. Let the coated steak rest for about 10 minutes.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium high heat.
  • Add the coated steak and cook while stirring until the beef becomes evenly browned, about 2 to 4 minutes.
  • Transfer the cooked beef to a slow cooker.
  • Add sliced onion, minced garlic, green onions, soy sauce, water, brown sugar, minced ginger, and hoisin sauce to the slow cooker.
