Ingredients
2 ¼ cups milk
1 cup heavy whipping cream
¾ cup white sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Directions
- Add the milk, heavy cream, and sugar to a saucepan. Heat the mixture over low heat while stirring until the sugar completely dissolves. Continue heating until the mixture becomes hot and a small ring of foam appears around the edges.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and transfer the mixture to a large container or measuring cup. Stir in the vanilla extract until well combined. Place the mixture in the refrigerator and chill it for at least two hours. Chilling overnight gives the best flavor and texture.
- Pour the cold mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions, usually about 20 to 25 minutes. The mixture will gradually thicken and become softly frozen.
- After churning, serve immediately for a soft texture or transfer the ice cream to a freezer container. Cover the surface and freeze for about two to three hours until the ice cream becomes firm and ready to scoop.
