  • 400g block mozzarella cucina (low-moisture mozzarella)
  • 2 tablespoons plain flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic granules
  • 1 large egg
  • 40g panko breadcrumbs
  • Olive oil cooking spray
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper (to taste)

Directions

  • Cut the mozzarella into strips about 1.5 cm wide, then pat them dry with paper towels.
  • In a shallow bowl, mix flour and garlic granules.
  • In a second bowl, beat the egg with salt and pepper.
  • In a third bowl, spread the panko breadcrumbs.
  • Roll each mozzarella strip in flour, then dip in egg, and repeat — flour again, then egg again — to create a double coating.
  • Finish by coating each strip in panko breadcrumbs until fully covered.
  • Arrange coated mozzarella sticks on a tray and freeze for at least 30 minutes until firm.
  • Spray the air fryer basket with olive oil spray and place mozzarella sticks in a single layer.
  • Spray the tops lightly with oil and cook at 200°C (400°F) for 10 minutes until golden brown.
