Ingredients
- 1 cup white sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 3 (12 ounce) packages refrigerated biscuit dough
- ½ cup chopped walnuts (optional)
- ½ cup raisins (optional)
- ½ cup butter or margarine
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously grease a 9- or 10-inch Bundt or tube pan to prevent sticking.
- In a large bowl or plastic bag, mix white sugar and ground cinnamon until evenly combined.
- Cut each biscuit into quarters and add 6 to 8 pieces at a time into the cinnamon-sugar mixture, tossing well so every piece is fully coated.
- Layer the coated biscuit pieces evenly in the prepared pan, sprinkling walnuts and raisins between layers if using, without pressing the dough down.
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and brown sugar together, stirring constantly until the mixture comes to a gentle boil. Let it boil for about 1 minute.
- Carefully pour the hot butter and brown sugar mixture evenly over the biscuit dough in the pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 35 to 40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the dough is fully cooked in the center.
- Remove from the oven and let the monkey bread rest in the pan for 10 minutes, then invert onto a large serving plate and serve warm so it can be easily pulled apart.
