Ingredients
- 3 medium russet potatoes, peeled & chopped
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 3 onions, chopped
- ¾ lb ground beef
- 4 tsp light soy sauce
- All-purpose flour (for coating)
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- Panko breadcrumbs
- ½ cup oil (for frying)
Instructions
- Boil potatoes in salted water until tender (about 15 mins). Drain, mash with butter, and set aside.
- Heat oil in a skillet, sauté onions until soft. Add ground beef + soy sauce, cook until browned and liquid evaporates.
- Mix beef-onion mixture with mashed potatoes thoroughly.
- Heat ½ cup oil in a deep skillet/wok over medium-high heat.
- Shape mixture into 10 balls, flatten into patties.
- Coat each patty in flour → dip in beaten egg → coat with panko.
- Fry until golden brown on both sides.
- Serve warm with Tonkatsu sauce.
