Cornbread Recipe
This classic cornbread recipe is soft, moist, and perfectly golden just like traditional Southern-style cornbread. Made from scratch using simple pantry ingredients, it’s the perfect side dish for chili, BBQ ribs, fried chicken, or any comfort meal.

Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup yellow cornmeal
- ⅔ cup white sugar
- 3 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk (whole milk or 2%)
- ⅓ cup vegetable oil
- 1 large egg
Directions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan or cast-iron skillet.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and salt until combined.
- Add milk, vegetable oil, and egg. Whisk until the batter is smooth and lump-free.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan, spreading evenly.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm with butter, honey, or jam.
