Ingredients
- 8 (5-ounce) boneless chicken thighs
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (or as needed)
- ½ medium onion, finely chopped
- 7 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 cup honey
- ½ cup soy sauce
- 1 pinch onion powder
- 1 pinch garlic powder
- ¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro (for garnish)
Directions
- Season chicken thighs generously with salt and black pepper on both sides.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and brown on one side for 3–5 minutes.
- Flip chicken, then add onion and garlic. Cook for another 5–7 minutes until the chicken is mostly cooked and the onion is soft. Remove chicken and set aside.
- In the same skillet, stir together honey, soy sauce, onion powder, and garlic powder. Scrape the bottom of the pan to release any flavorful bits.
- Return chicken to the pan, cover, and cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes, turning halfway through, until the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C) internally.
- Transfer chicken to a serving plate, drizzle with the pan sauce, and sprinkle chopped cilantro on top.
- Serve warm with rice, noodles, or steamed vegetables.
